Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, Vice- Chancellor, Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa in Ondo State, has warned new students to shun all forms of academic corruption and social vices.
Ologunorisa gave the advice on Wednesday at the main auditorium of the institution during the matriculation ceremony of 2,800 students for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 2,800 students were admitted into the six schools of the institution including: schools of sciences; basic medicals; and allied health sciences.
Others are: school of management sciences; engineering and engineering technology; agriculture; food and natural resources; and school of postgraduate studies.
“OAUSTECH has zero tolerance for indolence, bribery, corruption, examination malpractices, cultism, harassment, sexual abuse, indecent dressing, among others.
“I congratulate the students for making the right choice and for their successful admission into the great citadel of knowledge which is one of the best in the country.
“Students will be taken through 21st century skills because we have one of the best central research laboratory’s
“We also have award winning professors who are rated among the best in the country, as well as a safe, serene and conducive learning environment,” he said.
According to him, the world is in a competitive and robotic age of industrial and technological revolution, which the university is in the forefront and poised for the revolution.
“Our students are competing favourably well among their peers nationally and internationaly.
“The oath you took today is like a contract between husband and wife.
“We will do our part to give you our best but you must do your part to obey the rules and regulations too for you to graduate ceremoniously at appropriate time,” Ologunorisa said
He, however, urged the students to concentrate on their studies, attend lectures regularly and do their assignments.
The VC also advised them to ensure participation in examinations to graduate as at when due, in order to actualise their future goals and aspirations. (NAN)
