The Ondo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare has charged camp officials to have mutual respect for one another.
The State Coordinator made the charge while addressing all the officials that will participate in the 2024 Batch 'C' (Stream 1) orientation course, saying that love and respect for one another breeds companionship.
"Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, I need to emphasise here that our coming together is for a purpose which is to prosecute orientation course exercise successfully to the best of our collective ability. It is on this premise that we are to carry out our assignments as camp officials and nothing more. We are all critical stakeholders at ensuring the best for the corps members and we should be seen to operate under that mandate".
Bakare admonished them to give a rousing welcome to the graduate youths that have been mobilised to serve their fatherland, saying that the impression that the patriotic Nigerians have about the camp officials will determine how ready they wished to serve the country.
"My colleagues, we have a responsibility towards the corps members. Let them see you as locus parentis. Welcome them with smiles and love. They are coming from different backgrounds and we need to let them know that we have what it takes to mentor and mould them for the task of nation building".
She said that management would do everything humanly possible to make the camp memorable and enjoyable for the entire camp community but added that her administration will not condone any act of indiscipline or unruly behaviour from any quarter.
The Coordinator asserted that attendance of all camp officials, except those essential services such as clinic and kitchen, is mandatory and that she would not hesitate to blacklist any non-conformist.
The NYSC Ondo State boss reiterated the commitment of the management for enhanced security and welfare of corps members, and advised the camp officials to promptly report any security breach or health challenge they observe, so that the management will nip it in the bud before it escalated.
The State Coordinator, who is having her first orientation course in Ondo State appealed to everyone to always remember the corps members and by extension, the entire camp community in their daily communion with God, and prayed that the camp will not experience any untoward happening throughout the three weeks duration.
In his contribution, the Camp Director, Mr. Kehinde Oyeniyi Lawal appealed for synergy among the camp officials, with a call to heads of assignments to carry their subordinates along by giving them adequate information from time to time.
The Camp Director urged everyone to put up best attitude and behaviour so that they would be in the best position to give the best services to the members of the service corps.
Lawal while reminding the camp officials that no two orientation courses are the same, enjoined them to eschew all negative acts that may make the corps members disrespect or embarrass them.
