The Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFund), in collaboration with the National leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), recently held a senstisation program session at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria to educate students about the benefits of student loans and provide guidance on the application process.
The sensitization Programme which was held at the Faculty of Theater and Media Arts Complex Phase II of the institution was graced by the Director of Stakeholder Management, NELFund, Mrs. Yemi Caxton, the National President of NANS, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Mr. Sunday Asefon
Others included "SSA to the Governor of Ekiti State on Student matters Mr Ore Adetiba, Registrar, Mr. Muftau Adesina Ibrahim, Professor Wasiu Ademola Oyedokun-Alli, Director of FUOYE Ventures, Dr. Akinola Eluwole, Student Affairs Officer, Mr. Johnson ADEYEMO, SA to VC on students Matters, Mr Teslim Salahudeen and host of others.
During the Courtesy call meeting , Mrs. Yemi Catson explained that the sensitization Programme was orchestrated to benefit the students
Her words, "we are here to sensitize the students about the significant advantages of the loan and the Federal Government's commitment to ensuring that all eligible students have access to quality tertiary education regardless of their financial background"
"The straightforward and streamlined application process for the loan, emphasizing that NELFund has ensured minimal human interaction to make it easier for students to access the loan for their education.
In his reaction, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina heartily welcomed the NELfund team and the student leadership to the university
Fasina who was ably represented by Professor Tajudeen Bolanle Opoola in his speech said " I welcome you on behalf of the Vice Chancellor Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, to the fastest growing university in Nigeria "
"Our comrade here has been doing perfectly well . We are enjoying the support of Students leaders starting from the first female SUG President, NANS zone D and the rest" he added

"Everybody want to come to FUOYE because we are God wins University, Our University has been also ranked third most sought after university in Nigeria by JAMB, last year , we are 4th adding that 55 thousand jostled for about 8 admission slots this year.
"We have been having uninterrupted academic calendar since the Vice came on board ,This has been the collaboration efforts of the FUOYE students leaders , NANS and the university. We are appreciating NANS, NEUs for your support always.and the Vice Chancellor who is a man who loves his students has always want to take this institution to a greater height , He added
In the last Africa games, FASU, out of 46 university got gold medals and came home with laurels this is part of Professor Faisna giant stride to make sure FUOYE is on the global map.
He assured the students that the university management would continue to guide the students on how to apply for the loan and raise awareness about its benefits.
Addressing the students, The National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Lucky Emonefe, also participated in the advocacy efforts, alongside other Students Leadership from the institution and Zone D helped mobilize resources for the event.
He expressed disappointment in the low participation of South West students in the scheme, noting that the programme was designed to alleviate the financial burden on students and their families. He explained that the loan offers students a way to finance their education without the stress of immediate repayment.
Also, the Senior Special Adviser on youth engagement, Mr. Sunday Asefon, stated that the loan facility fulfills the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu campaign promise to ensure that no indigent Nigerian youth drops out of the country’s tertiary institutions.
Asefon emphasized that the President aims to eradicate the incidents of out-of-school children and Nigerian youths dropping out of various institutions.
He highlighted that all students are eligible to take the loan and that no interest will be charged. Repayment begins two years after completion of the youth corps service. It is concerning that many students from the South West are not applying for this loan, despite its favorable terms.
Also, The Special Assistant on Student Matters to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, Mr. Teslim Salahudeen also joined the NANS leadership to enlighten the student on the benefit of the student loan which was the initiative of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria , Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu
In his words, this initiative started before the inception of our president under the leadership of Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina who partnered with the students leadership to assist the indigent students who are unable to pay their school fee.
"Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina also gave scholarship to some of the students , this and more are also the initiative of the Vice Chancellor and we have another golden opportunity to embrace, I want to urge you all to keep into this initiative" the former SUG President said
"There is FUOYE Internet Distribution Service on our campuses whereby anyone on campus are connected with the Internet.


In her appreciation, The SUG President of the institution, Comrade Abiodun Olorunsola thanked the Nelfund team, NANS leadership, NAUS and all students that participated in the sensitization program.
She however urged FUOYE students who are yet to apply to do so that they won't misses the opportunity.
