The Alumni Association of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has donated One Million Naira (₦1,000,000) to the institution.
Newsline NG learnt that, the donation was meant for the ongoing construction of the Fasina Conference Centre at the institution
It was also learnt that the noble gesture underscores the association's dedication to supporting the university's vision and enhancing its infrastructure.
The Fasina Conference Centre will serve as a hub for academic conferences, seminars, and workshops, fostering intellectual discourse and innovation.
Speaking at the fuoye/DIG Adeoye scholarship event held at Fasina Conference Centre the Alumni president( Bishop )Arogundade Temitope said
His words, "We are proud to support our alma mater's development. This donation demonstrates the executive's commitment to FUOYE's success and its impact on our community."
"This donation is not the first of the kind from the association, earlier the alumni association donated 36 fridges to the school to support it for the accreditation program
Speaking with Journalists, the National President, FUOYE Alumni, Comrade Temitope Arogundade said " I want to thank the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina for providing the conducive environment for various stakeholders to contribute their quota to the development of the University.
"As we all know, one of the major objectives of the ALUMNI Association is to give back to the ALMA mater to see that ALMA mater become great. That is the dream of every ALUMNI Association.
"We desire that FUOYE will eventually become one of the best that every one of us can be proud of. These are the things pushing us as far as the ALUMNI Association is concerned to see that in any way we can contribute to the development of our university we did not hold it back. "
He said this has been the working principle which has been working together with my executive team. So, that is what is pushing us, and that is why we will not leave any stone unturned in any way to see that our university is better, because we want to see our university be among the top rated Universities of the 21st Century in this country even beyond that adding that we are contributing from our end to see that whatever it takes to achieve that purpose and we are part of it.
"We are doing that and we will continue to do it as God will be giving us the grace, as God will be giving us the opportunity, we will not leave any stone unturned to make sure that as far as the ALUMNI Association is concerned. ALUMNI Association is a major stakeholder and we want to see that our impact is felt in the University.
"As I said, there are various programs, very soon, the ALUMNI Association together with the support of the Vice-Chancellor, will be laying the foundation very soon. That is another area where God will be helping us. Recently, we donated 36 fridges to aid the last Accreditation programs and we are doing more to make our institution beat the world
In her appreciation message, Prof. Oyawoye, Director of the Advancement Center, who doubles as the chairman for the ongoing Fasina Conference Center under construction expressed profound gratitude to the Alumni Association for this significant contribution. This partnership reinforces the spirit of giving back and strengthens the bond between the university and its alumni.
On behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, I want to say thank you for contributing to the development of the University.
She however urged the members of staff and stakeholders I'm the university to contribute their quota to the university community.
