Retired DIG, Adeoye gives scholarships to FUOYE students

No fewer than 24 indigent students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, FUOYE , Ekiti State have been offered scholarship by Former Deputy Inspector General of Police (Rtd), Adedayo Adeoye 

The epoch event which was held at  Fasina Conference Center  site at Phase III of the Ivory Tower was graced by the Registrar, Mr Muftau Adesina Ibrahim, Librarian Dr Isaac Busayo, Dean of Law , Professor Olufemi Abifarin, Deputy Director, Advancement Center, Mr. Godwin Elabor among others.

Speaking during a ceremony to unveil the 24 recipients,  Director, Advancement Center , Professor Olubukola Oyawoye said the beneficiaries were drawn from different departments within the university, SHe said the scholarship will go along way ease the burden on tuition fee on their parents. 

Her words, "I want to welcome the Vice-Chancellor ably represented by the DVC academic, Prof. Olubunmi Shitu and every other principal offers present.  I want to appreciate all FUOYE staff and students here, I want to appreciate my colleagues in the advancement center for the great work done. 

Professor Oyawoye said, FUOYE students are very lucky to have Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina as the Vice-Chancellor because the life of FUOYE students matters a lot to him. He does not joke with the welfare of the students. So, FUOYE students matters.

"FUOYE set out sought out for help through the advancement center headed by myself and it is called endowment. One of the help that came is from our father, one of the retired police officer. We have a lot of good police officers in the country and one of them is DIG Adeoye Adedayo who has been giving out millions of naira as scholarship."

Oyawoye said the scholarship is meant for the students who are struggling or find it difficult to pay their school fees, adding that other Vice-Chancellors might choose to go for other projects but our Vice-Chancellor chose to  put the money from the scholarship on the students who struggles to pay their school fees. 

"Out of the endowment money, the amount to be given to the lucky students has been set aside and we will immediately disburse it to them as soon as they mark their names. The money is to be to pay or balance up their school fees" the former Osun State commissioner said.

She however encourage the students to apply for students loan which is the initiative of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because it is your right. The people who are mostly enjoying the students loan are the northerners. Kindly visit the Nelfund desk officer in the university to do the needful.

"In the nearest future, you people will come back and give scholarships to the people as well. Adeoye Adedayo is giving us clean money because there is no record of corruption against him throughout his time in service.
 


Earlier in his address, The Vice Chancellor Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina who represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Professor Olubunmi Samuel Shittu welcome everyone to the Fasina/Adeoye Scholarship scheme program.




"I want to appreciate the donor for his kind gesture towards the school and the students in particular. We wish to appreciate the Director ot the Advancement Center who, through her connections, we are enjoying this opportunity today."

He advise the students and the beneficiaries not to misuse this opportunity so that they will not disappoint the donor. And in the nearest future, you will come and give back to the community.

" The motive behind this is that people who are less privileged will have the opportunity to pursue their academic properly. For making yourself available to study shows your resilient and this is a recognition and your hard work and you must to stand out in the comity of nations and defend it.

"The scholarship is not just a reward but also a responsibility. Because you must be ready to support others in the future to come. 

"I want to use this opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of the Vice-Chancellor. So, we want to appreciate the goodwill of the Vice-Chancellor.

"We want to appreciate the work of the work of the Director of the Advancement Center for making things work.
So, we are looking forward to seeing you students becoming leaders of tomorrow and be ready to give back to organizations like this university.

"This program is not only for celebrating academic but celebration of the future hope. The future where your knowledge and impacts will be celebrated.

"The Vice-Chancellor is always ready to do the best and he is ready to do more and we don't want you to take it for granted.
On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, we want to thank the donor and the Advancement Center this giant strid in this University and we are expecting more to come.

In his word of admonition, the Registrar, Mr Muftau Adesina Ibrahim said "Today is a very important day for us As the registrar, I am a father to the students and I am a son of the donor. It means that the donor is giving the scholarship to the grandchildren. 

"Let me advise you, avoid any form of distractions and remember the sons and daughters of whom you are. Try as much as possible to make the donor happy. And I pray the Lord will help you"



Also speaking at the event, the Librarian Dr  Isaac Busayo said" Let me congratulate the award recipients today and advise you to be more focused and so that you will not forget your primary assignments here on campus. 

Dr Busayo went on " The doors of the library are widely open for all students to come and read and study. You must not ignore the library because you need to build on whatever you are taught by your lecturers in the class. This is the only way you can be successful in your academic life"

The first female SUG President student of the institution, President Abiodun Olorunsola Mary in her words congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to be more focused on their academic pursuit 

"Congratulations to the beneficiaries of this scholarship because it is an opportunity. So, I would advise you to give it all it takes. As the SUG President, I can assure you that we are here for you and by the grace of God, you will have the best. Don't be distracted by the fact that you don't have enough. Be focused and do the needful."
