Man, 27, in court for alleged mobile phone theft

The police in Ibadan on Thursday arraigned a 27-year-old man, Taiwo Emmanuel, in a Grade 'A' Customary Court, Ibadan, for allegedly breaking into a telecommunication company and stealing a mobile phone worth N383, 000.

Emmanuel, whose residential address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of office breaking and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 30, at 10.00 p.m. at Globacom Telecommunication Centre, Oke-Ado in Ibadan.

According to Amusan, the defendant unlawfully entered the office without the consent of the company’s executives and with an intent to steal.

He said that the defendant stole one Samsung A 25-5G phone valued at N383,000, which belonged to the company.

Amusan said the offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 413 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN)

The court president, Mrs Sukurat Yusuf granted the defendant bail in the sum of N400, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She thereafter adjourned the case until Oct. 2, for hearing. (NAN)
