Press Release:

Sunshine Progressive Youths Forum condemns Minister of Youth's Dr. Jamila's Lack of Transparency and Inclusive Engagement

The Sunshine Progressive Youths Forum is appalled by the recent announcement of the Minister of Youth. Dr. Jamila's visit to Ondo State for Southwest town hall meeting exemplifies a disturbing trend of secrecy and exclusivity. This approach undermines the fundamental principles of public office and neglects the diverse perspectives of Nigerian youths. It calls for absolute scrutiny and total rejection of her activities in the ministry.

Lack of Publicity and Transparency

The Minister's decision to visit Ondo State without adequate publicity and public engagement is unacceptable.
The announcement was made on social media in less than 24 hours, leaving many youths unaware of the event.
This lack of transparency raises concerns about the Minister's commitment to inclusive governance. And shows a total disconnect.

Inadequate Engagement with Youths

The Minister chose to engage with a select group of youths rather than hosting a town hall meeting or inclusive forum. Perhaps the Minister is scared of scrutiny over her incapability and world record-breaking failure.
This approach disregards the diverse needs and perspectives of Nigerian youths, perpetuating a culture of exclusivity.
Our forum of progressive youths demands meaningful engagement with youths, including marginalized groups.

Failure to Address Pressing Youth Issues

The Minister's visit fails to address pressing issues affecting Nigerian youths, such as:
    - Unemployment
    - Education
    - Empowerment
    - Healthcare
    - Security
The Forum demands a comprehensive approach to youth development beyond tokenistic events.

Call to Action

We urge President Bola Tinubu to:

1. Address the Minister's lack of transparency and inclusive engagement.
2. Ensure meaningful youth participation in policy-making processes.
3. Develop comprehensive strategies to address pressing youth issues.
4. Hold the Minister accountable for her actions.
5. Or and immediate sack of the Minister of youth.

Conclusion

The Sunshine Progressive Youths Forum dissociates itself from this event and demands a more inclusive and transparent approach to youth development initiatives. We will continue to advocate for the rights and interests of Nigerian youths.

Signed,
Eyinlawo Oluwasanmi Okitipupa,
President, Sunshine Progressive Youths Forum,
Okitipupa, Ondo State.
