An Ondo State front line monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Frederick Adegunle Aroloye, OFR, the Owa of Idanre Land has lauded the management of the National Youth Service Corps on the Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) programme.
The first class Royal Father said that the Scheme should be commended for rolling out such a programme for the benefit of indigenes and the less privileged people in the society.
Speaking in his palace while playing host to the NYSC Ondo Zonal Inspector, Miss Deborah Omolola Ogunmola and the Local Government Inspector who had gone to seek his blessings for the forthcoming HIRD programme in Odode area of the ancient Idanre town, the traditional ruler asserted that NYSC is indeed fulfilling the vision of the founding fathers.
"I am extremely grateful to the management of the laudable Scheme in Ondo State for finding my domain worthy of this programme and I want to assure you on behalf of Owa Idanre-in-Council that we shall do everything within our powers to ensure the success of the programme. Not only that, we shall mobilise the citizens and residents of all the communities in the Local Government to benefit from this great health intervention".
The traditional ruler appealed to the Scheme to encourage corps members to execute projects that will impact the society and touch lives while adding that his people are ready to support the aspirations of the corps members.
"The Zonal Inspector and the Local Government Inspector, I want to seize this opportunity to appeal to you to encourage your corps members serving in various communities to come up with projects that will benefit all and sundry as I also want to assure you that philanthropists in this Council area will support the lofty ideas of the corps members".
Speaking earlier, the Zonal Inspector, Miss Ogunmola said that they are in the palace to inform His Royal Majesty and Owa Idanre in Council about the HIRD programme and to invite the traditional ruler to the programme slated for Wednesday, 20th and Thursday, 21st March, 2024.
The Zonal Inspector who listed the benefits of the programme to include unhindered access to free medical examination and treatment disclosed that corps medical personnel who are certified and qualified professionals will avail their services for the community.
"It is with high sense of responsibility that I wish to inform the Kabiyesi that the two days medical outreach has competent and qualified medical professionals who will give their best to examine, treat and where necessary give referrals to cases they cannot handle".
On how to create awareness for the programme, the Zonal Inspector hinted that the Local Government Inspector, Mrs. Oluwatomisin Coker and corps members had embarked on sensitisation to Odode and all neighbouring communities so that those who are suffering from one ailment or the other can come and enjoy free medical services that NYSC has brought to their doorsteps.
She capitalized on the visit to the palace to appeal to well-meaning individuals, philanthropists and corporate entities in the Local Government to support the programme with essential drugs and other materials that will ensure success of the programme.
