The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Ondo State, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani has asserted that one of the strong and potent control system the Scheme is known for is a robust feedback mechanism.
According to the administrator who has devoted her entire Public Service life to mentoring and moulding graduate youths, defined feedback as a critical assessment of information received which is dissected to produce a desired results.
Ani made this known while interacting with the Kings and Queens at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko as a follow-up to gauge the life-changing discussions the management had with the corps members when they newly arrived the camp for the orientation course.
The programme which was tagged 'Frank Talk with the Leaders' could be described as achieving the positive result it was intended for as members of the service corps bared their minds on some delicate and challenging issues facing them towards taking the right decision.
Appraising the feedback mechanism, the mother of the nation as the State Coordinator is fondly called enjoined the beneficiaries of the programme put together by Gender and Servicom Desk not to trivialise the import of the programme.
"My Kings and Queens, we are not here to gather for a comedy show but to discuss the life challenges most of you battle with. Some have erroneously undertook decisions which have altered their destinies. NYSC is established to lay a solid foundation on life dynamism which corps members are expected to build on for a successful life".
The NYSC Ondo State boss hinted that speakers are prayerfully selected and considered to handle the sensitive issues because of the lives involved.
"We are all fathers and mothers who have over the years garnered experiences that can prevent the youths from falling into pitfalls. NYSC and the collaborating agencies have in abundance experienced professionals who are well grounded and rooted in social and human behaviours that can aggregate on all matters relating to human psychology" she explained.
The gathering which would have gone like a normal interface turned out to be a solemn session as questions and observations raised by corps members indicated that without such programme, what would have happened to those who are passing through critical stage in life is better imagined.
The State Coordinator assured them that NYSC will not leave them alone or forsake them but will continue to make themselves available for their services beyond the orientation camp. She admonished them to feel free to call anyone through the contact numbers provided in the Orientation Service Guide if the need arises.
Ani in her closing remarks admonished them not to resort to do the unthinkable but should always share their burden because according to her, problem shared is problem solved.
"Your outbursts today have shown that the matter we have discussed here should not end here but we should try to do a follow up. This can only be achieved if you are willing to repose your confidence in us and nip in the bud further aggravation which is an ill wind that blows no one any good. Your life is important and precious to us and we shall do everything humanly possible to help you achieve the goals you have set for yourself in life".
The selected speakers who spoke to the males and females separately proffered solutions to many of the questions which are burdensome to the corps members.
They also quoted copiously from the Holy Books to support and convince the corps members while also charging them to draw their strength from personalities in the Bible and Quran that faced fierce battles but eventually came out victorious.
