The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has charged Corps Members mobilised to Oyo State for their one year mandatory national service to be patriotic as the future and survival of Nigeria rest on their shoulders.
Governor Makinde who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke stated this while delivering his address during the Swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch A stream 1 Corps members at the Oyo State NYSC permanent orientation camp, Iseyin.
He congratulated the young graduates whom he described as sophisticated, energetic and resourceful for the successful completion of their academic journey which qualified them for national service.
He urged them to take the three-week orientation course seriously which has been designed in a regimented way encapsulating physical, leadership, Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme amongst other trainings.
Makinde harped on the need for the Corps Members to be responsible and optimistic about the progress of Nigeria despite the current challenges confronting the nation.
He advised the Corps members to believe in a great Nigeria which shall soon be realized with the efforts of all and sundry.
Emphasizing on the hospitable and accommodating nature of the people of Oyo State, he encouraged Corps members to cohabit freely, enjoy the goodies of the land as he reiterated the commitment of his Government towards creating enabling environment for the citizens and residents of the State.
The State Coordinator NYSC Oyo State, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche intimated Corps members about camp life which is intentionally designed to be regimented in order to inculcate into Corps Members the discipline needed for a successful life.
He tasked Corps members to brace up and offer themselves humbly for the trainings which are targeted at making them a better version of themselves.
The Swearing-in ceremony witnessed the adminstration of the Oath of Allegiance on the 1,737 of 2024 Batch A Stream One Corps Members deployed to Oyo State by the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Hon.Justice Iyabo Yerima represented by Honourable Justice Olusegun Olagunju.
