The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani has warned that the management will not condone any act of indiscipline or unethical practices from camp market operators.
The State Coordinator who was pissed off by the irritating behaviour of some camp market operators gave the warning when she met with them at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.
Ani, who said that it was most unfortunate that despite the code of conduct and rules of engagement in which all the registered marketers subscribed to, some of them are daring and she disclosed that the big stick would be wielded against the recalcitrant ones.
"I want to be frank with you and let you know that some of you despite repeated warnings have turned deaf ears to instructions that will help you market or advertise your goods and services but I can assure you that culprits or offenders apprehended after this meeting will not only be shown the way out but will be handed over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution for constituting themselves as nuisance and thus threatening the peace of the camp".
"Specifically, the Point of Sale (POS) machine operators have defied all peaceful resolutions made during the previous camps and are now trying to run a parallel administration in the camp but I want to assure you that anyone that has his or her terminal seized will not have access to it until after the orientation camp, aside the punishment that will be meted out to such obstinate person.
The NYSC Ondo State boss tutored them on the definition of market and what should be expected of them.
"A market is a designated place with a community where people of different calibres and shades patronise to buy goods and enjoy some services. NYSC has designated a place as camp market which predisposes that anyone within the camp community would visit and not the other way round where marketers would be promoting their services by hawking their wares within the camp community which is forbidden" she explained.
Speaking further, the State Coordinator expressed total disappointment of the unruly behaviours of some of the camp market operators when a distinguished guest visited the camp two days earlier and chided them not to disorganise the camp.
"Our distinguished personality who visited us two days ago was utterly embarrassed by the unpleasant attitude of majority of camp market operators and I want to let you know that he was disappointed with your conduct. He came around to patronize your businesses but majority of you were unfaithful, increasing arbitrarily the cost of your goods and services".
She continued, 'whatever you do should always be done with the fear of God and straightforwardness but majority of you threw caution to the winds and took advantage of the good intentions of the special guest to misbehave. I leave you to God and your conscience but you have created a bad impression in the mind of the august visitor and his entourage".
The State Coordinator hinted that if the operators wish to take the simplicity of the management as a sign of weakness, they would see the other side which she said would not be palatable.
She advised them not to transact any business beyond what the management has approved through the Task Force on price regulation, insisting that anyone caught engaging in sharp practices to swindle corps members will be blacklisted.
