The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has encouraged and motivated Corps members mobilised to Oyo State and their counterparts dislodged from Lagos for the 2023 batch C stream 2 orientation course to take every challenge that comes their way as an opportunity to prove their worth as vibrant young graduates from reputable institutions.
Governor Makinde who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Oyo State, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, stated this during the Swearing-in ceremony at the NYSC permanent orientation camp Iseyin.
He congratulated Corps members for the successful completion of their academic journey from their various institutions of learning and enjoined them to always be good ambassadors of their institutions.
He charged them to offer themselves for all camp activities which are deliberately designed to make them a better version of themselves.
Makinde expressed concerns over the proliferating unemployment rate among graduate youths and urged them to prioritise and embrace Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme in camp so as to become self-reliant and wealth creators.
He reiterated the commitment of his administration towards Corps members' welfare and security. “This is also a veritable opportunity to put your mind at rest about the issue of welfare and security.
The State government will do all in her capacity to ensure that you have a memorable national service experience. It is noteworthy to emphasize that Oyo State is a relatively safe and free from many forms of security challenges many States are battling with” he said.
The Chairman, NYSC Oyo State Governing Board who was represented by the Director, Youth Development, Ministry of Youth and Sports Oyo State, Alhaja Kudirat Mustapha in her address enjoined Corps members to consolidate on the landmark antecedents of their predecessors who have successfully complemented the work force of both public and private sectors in the country, as well fostering national unity and integration for over 50 years of NYSC's existence.
Earlier in his Introductory address, the State Coordinator NYSC Oyo State, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche urged the corps members to embrace the challenge of nation building and tasked them to put intellect and potentials at work in building a great nation.
He lauded the immeasurable efforts of the Oyo State Government under the leadership of His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde towards Corps members' welfare and NYSC activities in the State.
He notably appreciated the Executive Chairman, Iseyin Local Government for being a wonderful host,his all time support and recent gesture of providing accommodation for camp officials who vacated their hostels for Corps members.
The highlight of the event was the Swearing-in of the 2023 Batch 'C' Stream ll corps members deployed to Oyo and dislodged from Lagos State by the Chief Judge of Oyo State represented by Hon.Justice Racheal Akintola including the significant sample signing of the oath of allegiance form.
