A United State of America-based Philanthropist and founder of a notable
foundation in Ekiti State, Mr Tope Tosin Owolabi, has explained that his foundation Babatunde F'emi Owolabi Foundation (BFOF) which he founded over a decade ago, has assisted over 20,000 people within Ekiti and Oyo States.
Owolabi, a farmer and a graduate of Guardian and Counsellor at the Ekiti State University, spoke in Ado-Ekiti recently with some selected Journalists, explained that the foundation BFOF which he founded in 2012, in memory of his late brother Mr Babatunde Femi Owolabi was aimed to assist the less priveledges and give back to the society.
The Igbole Ekiti borned Philanthropist explained that the foundation was also aimed at creating awareness on symptoms and cure of diabetes and hypertension.
He explained further that the foundation has in the last few years compliment the efforts of the Ekiti and Oyo States government in the areas of health and education by giving free medical test and treatment to the aged men and women at the rural areas
Owolabi added that the foundation has also gives free text books, school uniform, customize school bags and other writing materials to students at both at the primary and secondary schools level.
As part of the move by the foundation to give back to the society, the foundation has given scholarship to students of both secondary and tertiary education to support and continue their education.
Reiterating the readiness of the foundation to continue in giving back to the society and assist the less priveledges, said the foundation has also assist some widows and other categories of people with foods and cash apparently to cushion the effects of the recent fuel subsidy in Nigeria.
Speaking on the current security challenges in the country, Owolabi described security as a joint efforts between the government and the citizenry, urged the people of the country to always compliment the efforts of the government by diffusing the tension about security status of the country.
"Security should not be left alone to the government, we need to always support the government by change the narrative and by not creating more tension within our society" he stated.
The America-based Philanthropist, however expressed optimism that Nigeria will soon do better in terms of security and other areas aimed better the lots of the citizenry.
On the current political situation in the country, Owolabi lamented over the political landscape of the country, he suggested for a change in lives of the people of the country.
He urged the government to embark upon life changing programmes that would have direct impacts on the lives of the people of the country, saying through this people of the country would enjoy the dividends of democracy.
On what the citizenry should do in order to assist and support the government, Owolabi, urged the people of the country to cooperate with the government, saying through this more projects aimed at better the lots of the people would be established by the government.
