It was an event filled with pomp and pageantry in Akure, the Ondo State capital as a reputable News Magazine in the Southwest, Southwest Heralds Magazine holds her Public lecture and award.
Newsline NG learnt the event also feature award Presentation to some important dignitaries among the likes, Barr. (Dr) Olumuyiwa Adu, who was represented by Apostle Omoniyi. Hon. (Dr) Makinde Abiola, MHR, Ondo State NMA Chairman, Dr.Adeyemi-Osowe Omosehin, Dr.Thomas-Wilson Ikubese who was represented by Dr. Moses Atomoye
Others awardee included; Ondo NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi, Mrs Oluwakemi Betty Ojomu of OSRC Media Group, SkYE Hospital, CEO, John kollyns, Pastor Kolawole John, Olu Adekunle Ajanaku, Dr.Adekunle Akinola,of Department of Political Science,AAU, Akungba Akoko was the guest speaker.
The Public Lecture and Award themed "Emphasising The Ingredients of Ideal Democracy for A Better Society was held at ICAN House along Civil Defence office by Government House, Alagbaka, Akure on Sunday, November, 26, 2023.
Speaking at the occasion on the topic" "Emphasising The Ingredients of Ideal Democracy for A Better Society" a lecturer from the Department of Political Science, AAUA , Akungba Akoko, Dr Adekunle Akinola opined the usefulness of democratic system in the modern world.
"Some factors that influenced how people choose the system of government that they practice.
"History of the people, culture and their economy, are things that influences thier choices and the beauty of democratic system is in the hand of opposition.
Also Speaking, the Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon Olamide Oladiji who also doubles as the Chairman of the occasion in his address congratulated the Publisher of Southwest Heralds Magazine for his consistency in upholding the principle of fare reportage since inception
He however used the opportunity to appreciate the timely intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the political issue in Ondo State and pray the Almighty God will continually grant him the grace and wisdom to continue to lead the country right.
In his reactions, the Publisher, Southwest Herald Magazine, Mr Tayo Adu appreciated everyone for gracing the event
"it is with great privileged that | express my profound gratitude to the King of Kings, the Ancient of days for making this programme a reality.
This is our little way of contributing to making our country an egalitarian society by creating an avenue for national discourse.
"While i will not forget to appreciate everyone who has contributed in no small measure to our modest achievement.
"I also want to say i am highly humbled and extremely honoured to welcome you to this epoch making event of our public lecture.
Dignitaries at the event were the Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon Olamide Oladiji(Landmark) ,Professor Faduyile Adedayo,the Special Adviser to Gov Akeredolu on Health who is also a Gubernatorial hopeful, Chief Bunmi Alade, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Prof Gbadamosi, Dr.Adekunle Akinola, the guest speaker Prince Ojopagogo,the Chairman of Southwest Newspapers Publisher's Association among others.
