Wife of the Governor of Ondo State, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has reiterated that, the gigantic and encompassing building project of the Foundation of Wives of Ondo State Officials and Female Political Appointees, FOWOSO, was a legacy she’s leaving for the benefit of Ondo women and girls.
Addressing the members of the Foundation today after an inspection tour to the construction site of the centre, at Oda Road, Akure the state capital, she maintained that the project wasn’t for her, but rather erected to cater for vulnerable women and girls who might be needing shelter as a result of being victims of sexual and gender-based violence.
Commending members who contributed in one way or another to the project, she described the building structure (which houses e-library, event auditorium, administrative blocks and logde for victims of gender based violence), as top-notch.
“This is nice and we should all be proud of it. Quite a number of you made appreciable contributions, your names are there, everything is documented. And at the end of the day, it’s for the good of Ondo women and girls. When we say, Yes we Can, we meant it and people will now see that, yes, FOWOSO can”. She said.
She expressed special delight about the e-library segment of the centre, noting that it would further promote digital technology knowlegde among girls, saying “I am not a digital Mama by mouth. The e-library is for your children, not for Arabirin because in less than two years, I will leave.
It was indeed, electrifying to see what we all dreamed about coming to reality. Yes We Can!”
She lauded the commitment of the building project committee’s Chairman and former commissioner for women affairs, Mrs. Titi Adeyemi, for a wonderful job.
The FOWOSO Founder, who immediately after the inspection, held a meeting with members at the Rotunda, government house ground, announced 6th and 7th December 2023, as the date for the fifth summit of the Foundation.
She also announced Mrs. Toyin Adegbenro as the chairman of the planning committee of the summit, while Mrs Temitope Daniyan, and Mrs. Abiodun Adebusoye would serve as secretary and spokesperson, respectively.
Some members of the Foundation, used the medium to appreciate the motherly role which Her Excellency played in their lives and also thanked God for the grace to see her back to their midst as their founder to continue her impactful programmes in the state.
