..... Says Establishment of Maritime School Will Spur Mandate Areas Development

The Chairman, Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on OSOPADEC, Hon. (Primate) Oluwatoyin Allen, has lauded the management of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, OSOPADEC, on the proposed initiative to tap into the opportunities in 'Blue Economy',

He said that the ministry will go a long way in harnessing the many potentials that abound in the oil rich areas of the state.

He made this commendation when he led the Honourable Members of the House Committee on OSOPADEC in a familiarization visit to the commission headquarters in Akure, on Thursday August 24, 2023.

Hon. Allen who represents Ese-Odo Constituency at the House of Assembly, said that it is heart-warming to know that OSOPADEC has great interest in the Blue Economy through the establishment of School of Maritime Transport and Logistics in Ugbonla, which according to him, will spur a great deal of development in the oil producing areas.

He assured that the House Committee and the Ondo Assembly will continue to give the Commission the required support to successfully realise its visions; thereby making it a pacesetter for other interventionist agencies, and also make Ondo State a role model for other oil producing States.

While welcoming the lawmakers, OSOPADEC Chairman, Sam Erejuwa commended the Ondo State Assembly for its smooth relationship with the Commission, and the huge support his administration received from the last Assembly.

He expressed optimism that the harmonious interaction would be sustained even beyond the current 10th Assembly.

In his words: "This is another great moment in the Commission. We have before us our friends, brothers and stakeholders who are passionately concerned about the interests of our people in the mandate areas.

"We (OSOPADEC) exist to transform the lives of the people and bring total prosperity to the mandate areas. To succeed, there is the need for smooth interaction, co-operation and support of the Ondo State House of Assembly through this Committee.

"One of the cardinal objectives of this administration is to revisit and complete all abandoned projects. Consequently, we flagged off the reconstruction of the General Hospital, Agadagba-Obon which had hitherto been abandoned for over 14years.

"Road projects including the 1km Township road in Igbotu also received our prompt attention. All these projects would be completed and commissioned soonest." Erejuwa added

Also speaking, Hon. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi (Majority Leader of the Assembly) gave kudos to the Sam Erejuwa led-Board for resolving to revive abandoned projects.

He tasked the agency to do more in bringing the government closer to people through youth empowerment programs and infrastructural development.
