Nysc launches youths into leadership positions, Ondo State coord tells corps members






The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani has attributed the outstanding performance of graduate youths in all spheres of life to the training and mentoring they received while participating in the mandatory one year service to the nation.

The State Coordinator made this known while presenting the three Corps Camp Directors to their colleagues during the flag-off of the Lecture series for the 2023 Batch 'B' (Stream II) orientation course.

Mrs. Ani declared that world over, responsible Government prioritise the development of her youths and prepare them to occupy sensitive and strategic leadership positions in governance.

"My dear kings and queens, the country has invested massively in you by mobilising you to undergo a well-structured training commencing with the orientation course through the service year to prepare you for leadership positions and this is the reason the management of the noble Scheme is experimenting practical leadership by appointing corps members into positions of responsibility right from the orientation course".

She disclosed that NYSC has remained in the forefront of ensuring that graduate youths navigate seamlessly during the service year with the quality of lectures and other activities they are engaged in.

Speaking on the importance of lectures as an important aspect of the orientation course, Mrs. Ani said that it would assist them to sharpen and broaden their horizon and be well informed about happenings around them and the outside world.

"I want you to take advantage of the contents of the orientation course to help yourselves by getting well-grounded in various topics which ordinarily would not have any appeal to you.

She admonished them to invest their precious time in all the programmes and activities of the orientation course so that they would benefit from the wealth of experience of seasoned guest speakers and tested professionals that are carefully selected to impact and share knowledge with them.

The Overview of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was handled by the Assistant Director/Head, Corps Discipline and Reward, Mrs. Adejoke Ayodele Fashola who took the corps members through the historical background of the Scheme and espoused on the road to greatness of the youth organisation.

Mrs. Fashola who is also the Head, Lecture Committee charged the corps members to enhance their real worth by tasking their intellectual prowess to develop the country.

"The country is looking forward to seeing you become influencers and role models to the teeming generation coming after you so that our heart desires concerning the nation shall come to fruition." 

Similarly, the Security lecture themed Personal Security in a Challenging Situation which was delivered by a retired officer of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Rotimi Alade emphasised on the need for personal security and opined that corps members should live moderately and avoid ostentatious lifestyles.




Colonel Alade (rtd) enjoined the members of the service corps to take their personal security seriously and be conscious of the company of friends they keep. He encouraged them to study well the Security Tips booklet the NYSC management provided for them.

He however advised them to have the contact phone numbers of the security personnel in their respective Local Government which they will get in the Orientation Service Guide as well as information from their Local Government Inspectors.



While wishing them a successful orientation course and a wonderful service year, the Security expert reminded them that absolute security resides in the Almighty God while also encouraging them not to toy with their personal security at all times.
