The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps Oyo State, Mr Odoba Abel Oche has admonished 2023 Batch B stream one Corps members to take advantage of SAED to bridge the gap of unemployment

He charged them not to allow the opportunity offered by the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme of NYSC slips off their hands.

He opined that Skill Acquisition would enable them to be self employed thereby contributing to the aggregate socio economic fortune of the country.

The State Coordinator who was represented by the Camp Director, Mrs Ehi Okoli Janet gave this admonition while addressing corps members during the SAED exhibition and closing ceremony at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Iseyin.

Odoba used the opportunity to appreciate the NYSC management for creating such a unique opportunity for corps members to be trained by seasoned facilitators at no cost during the orientation course. He therefore enjoined them to be focused so that the purpose of this laudable program will not be defeated.

He encouraged the corps members to take advantage of the funding options that were introduced to them during the course of their training which include,  Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Industry, Bank of Agriculture, Standard Organization of Nigeria amongst others who are ready to assist with soft loans in setting up their businesses.

"Before now, the unemployment trend was restricted to certain courses studied in higher institutions of learning but today there is no field of study that unemployment and it's attendant menace has not been adversely affected, therefore perfect your chosen Skill with post camp training to ameliorate the negative impact of unemployment scourge" he advised.

Speaking further, he urged the corps members to embrace Skill Acquisition as a sustainable alternative to white collar jobs.

Earlier in her address,  the Head of SAED on Camp, Mrs Obayelu Roseline informed the Corps members that SAED trainers are resident in all the Local Government Areas of Oyo State for them to continue their training.

She charged the corps members to cherish and make good use of the quality in camp training they received to make financial headway instead of waiting endlessly and remain dependent on their parents.
