An Ondo State corps member, Gbakara Victory Gavin with code number OD/22C/1492 serving with Arise and Shine Model School, Akure, the Ondo state capital has won the season eight edition of the Nigeria Idol.
Gbakara, a 25 year old graduate of Law from Benson Idahosa University, Edo State who has immense passion for music said that he felt great to be the winner of the musical competition.
"I feel great. I feel very good being the winner of this competition. I will be going for thanksgiving in the church and after this, I am going to be making music".
According to the Delta State born music prodigy, he developed passion for music since he was age 9 as his mother put him in the Children Choir 'to keep me out of trouble in church and I have been singing ever since'.
He thanked his fans for being part of the success story and the NYSC for given him the enabling environment to pursue his dream.
"To my fans, I want to say thank you, this is possible because of you and I am grateful for giving me the opportunity to achieve this and for believing in my dreams and making it possible.
"To the NYSC family, it has always been one encouragement or the other from the very beginning and I want to emphatically say that NYSC has been instrumental to this success story. Recalling my orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko, the entire camp community then, beginning with the State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani and particularly the corps members who looked forward to better and improved performance each time I mounted the stage".
Victory, who is the second son of clergy parents, Archbishop Prof. and Bishop Dr. (Mrs.) Julien Gbakara says that his family is in full support of his passion.
The latest winner of Nigeria Idol disclosed that his background as well as environmental factor played significant roles in shaping his career.
"Environmental factor really played a key role as I am from Warri and we have this in-built 'never give up attitude towards life'. This assisted me in sustaining my mental readiness for the process leading to, and challenges encountered in the course of the keenly contested competition".
Gbakara advised everyone aspiring to achieve remarkable success to always pray towards achieving their dream, believing that the dream would be a reality and working hard for it to come to reality.
Nigeria Idol according to the organisers is a catalyst for economic growth towards enriching lives aside its entertainment value.
