AAUA: Your Eligibility as a student rely on payment of school fee --- VC tells students

The Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin  University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Professor Olugbenga Ige has disclosed that students admitted for the 2022/2033 academic session and have not paid their school fees or registered are no longer students of the institution. 

Professor Ige stated this in an interview with newsmen shortly after the institution's matriculation ceremony held on Friday, June 16, 2023, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Multipurpose Hall, OBJ.

According to the VC, it is the responsibility of the University to bring new students into the institution via due process.

He further stressed that the 'No Registration; No Admission has been declared since 2021, hence, anyone who has not paid school fees or completed their registration is not qualified to be a bonafide student of the institution, which will lead to termination of their admission.

He maintained that before a student can be matriculated, he or she must have gone through the process of registering online, have paid the school fees, and also get a matriculation number.

Professor Olugbenga further said that students who fall under the category of those who had made the payment but have not been assigned matriculation numbers due to screening issues are still considered students.

Reacting to the university's plans for the newly admitted students despite the population of two sets merged, he revealed that it is not a challenge, as over 5,000 students were given admission into the University yearly.

When asked about the relevance of the matriculation ceremony to the institution’s reputation, he noted that matriculation is a momentous ceremony.

"Out of over 200 Universities in the country, AAUA is ranked Number 13 and the best State University in Nigeria, hence, the matriculation is a momentous and significant ceremony as it is part of what is done to bring the University to the forefront," he said.

Prof. Olugbenga added that the 2021/22 and 2022/23 set was merged because of the strike and it resulted in a large number of admitted students.

Therefore, he said the newly admitted 6,957 students and other returning students need not worry as there are newly built improved infrastructures and Faculty buildings made for the comfort and convenience of their learning.

"The admission exercise for the session has come to an end. The level of academic dedication will determine your excellence, and certificates will only be issued to students who are found worthy of learning and character," the VC noted.
