The Coordinator NYSC Oyo State,Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe has charged corps members to improve on the Entrepreneurial Skills acquired at the orientation camp through active participation in the post camp SAED training.
She stated that the acquisition of skills combined with Entrepreneurship knowledge is a sure way to financial security.
Ogbuogebe made the call during the 2022 Batch B Stream ll Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme Closing/Exhibition ceremony, which took place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Iseyin.
She implored the corps members to subject themselves to training in order to be employers of labour to reduce the nation's unemployment rate.
She also advised them that perfecting their chosen skills can transform their lives beyond what they could imagine.
She said NYSC management has made adequate provisions for qualified trainers and facilitators in the thirty three local governments of Oyo state who will attend to them at little cost.
Ogbuogebe equally appreciated the facilitators for their commitments towards the training of the corps members.
She urged them to be creative in the qualities of their products and services so that their trainees (corps members) could stand out among their contemporaries.
The Exhibition featured the display of products made during the SAED in-camp training in the various skill sets which covered agro allied , food processing and preservation, cosmetology, ICT, Education amongst others.
Earlier in her remark the Head of SAED in Camp, Mrs Obayelu Roseline noted that SAED program was put in place to depopulate the labour market.
She asserted that SAED will help the scheme achieve its objective of making the corps members self reliant and potential employers of labour.
She also encouraged the corps members to leverage on the NYSC partnership with some financial institutions and agencies to provide them with start up capital without collateral.
She listed such agencies to include the Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Industry, Bank of Agriculture, NIRSAL and others.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of prizes to the winners of SAED Inter-platoon Competition.
