Dear quintessential Mama Florence Iyaduni Adedowole, I am aware that after a successful tenure spanning nine years as the Head of Department of Mass Communication, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, you bowed out as the captain of the ship.
Dear God mother, I felt like protesting this decision by you or the management of the oldest institution in Ondo State but I was comforted by all the successes you recorded during your tenure.
Mentor, I was comforted Indeed that your name has become a brand name for efficiency, effectiveness, diligence, commitment and tenacity of purpose and the fact that your name will continue to resonate long after you leave civil service and whenever and wherever there is a need for devotion to duty.
Role model, I was comforted probably because of your desire to serve away from the mainstream leadership - which agrees perfectly with his often-stated philosophy of commitment to service to one’s fatherland even “without a title or an office” as your engagements with the young and the old will continue to revolve around the preoccupation with the attainment of a better society, governed by people who have the fear of God.
Prophetess, I was comforted by the words of your predecessor and institution's current Director of Students' Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), Dr Rahman Abubakri, who described you as someone who has displayed brilliance, intelligence, students right activism and administrative acumen during your tenure, adding that the grace of God has supported you superlatively.
Mummy Kolade, I was comforted by the words of a lecturer in the Department, Mr Sunday Afolayan who described you as a force that nobody can shove aside anyhow.
Afolayan said: “All glory to God for the successes she recorded during her tenure, we are very proud of her and she remains an enigma with an inspiration. She actually made the Department proud. Providence will always highlight her place in history.”
Afolayan while appreciating God on your behalf noted that no candle procession was organised for you saying these are enough to thanked God for.
“No laying-in-state, No graveside speeches. No elegy. No threnody. No wreath of honour, it is worthy of Praise,” Afolayan added.
Mummy Juwon, I was also comforted by your reactions when you said :“Adedowole lyadunni came into the world to do so many things; HOD Mass Communication is just one of those things and the time has finally come to move ahead to the next line of action and next level of things.
“As I take a bow, l remain highly indebted to the Lord Jesus Christ and faithful friends like you whom God has blessed me with", she added.
No doubt, I call her 'the mother of all nations and Jewel of Inestimable Value’. We all call her MAMA, not because of her age but because of the milk of human kindnesses in her, we call her Mama because of her endless expression of love to everybody around her, we call her Mama because, of her open door to everybody, we call her Mama because of her integrity, gentility, transparency and her fear for God.
To Fidelis David, Mama has always been a pillar of support in all ramifications after graduation and while in school. Her tutelage, prayers, support and advises keeps spurring me to do more. Though, one major problem I gave Mama while in school was that I adamantly write and publish feature stories against any abnormality I saw in the school.
I believe vehemently that there are many lessons in the life of Mama Adedowole which should be learnt especially by women and wives, encompassing her loyalty to her husband, her faithfulness, her commitment, her favencency in serving God and her motherly role in students life. She is a great woman who is in a world of her own, a wonderful companion to her husband, a shining example of a wife, a Godly mother, a true icon among the women leaders I've seen in Nigeria, an uncommon woman and a detribalised leader.
It is often said that a good woman, makes a good wife and a good wife becomes a good mother, a good mother gives birth to good children and all the aformentioned qualities aren't enough to qualify Mummy Kolade, therefore, she can best be described as A MOTHER OF ALL NATIONS.
On behalf of 2016/2017 set, I say we are proud of you and as you took a bow as the captain of the department, we urge you to continue these legacies and keep the flag flying and Almighty God will keep rewarding you, the sky is your starting point.
