Pupils of Ogo Oluwa Community Primary School, Oda road, Akure, have been urged to speak out against any form of child Abuse and to ensure keeping their private part very secretive and safe..
The Network of Reproductive Health Journalists in Nigeria NRHJN in conjunction with Farake Ade-Are Foundation for human development FARDEF embarked on an advocacy to the school on Tuesday.
The Ondo state Coordinator of NRHJN, Alhaja Fatima Muraina, identified various forms of Abuse as she called on the pupils to speak out to get help on any form of abuse raging from Sexual, physical, emotional and neglect
form of abuse.
She educated the children on the various strategies of identifying sexual abusers, which she said might be a close relatives, the neighbours, uncle and even the father who may lure them with some goodies or money.
Muraina who spoke with the parents who were on ground for the parents teachers meeting, advised them not to transfer aggression to them but to make their children their friends so that they can trust and confide in them on issues of abuses confronting them.
Similarly,The Executive Director of FARDEF Mrs Olufisoye Adenitan said the purpose of the advocacy was aimed at further educating the children on the need to guide themselves against peodophiles in the society .
Adenitan who also stressed on the need for children to always speak out while being abused or assaulted by family members ,neighbors or siblings admonished mother's to be alive to their responsibilities in protecting the children against peodophiles in the society.
Speaking on behalf of the school, the Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association PTA , Elder Ajayi Ademola appreciated the Team for what he described as impactful to both the children and the parents.
