The Oyo State Christian Association Of Nigeria, (CAN), has urged Christians to always be proactive, and involved in politics due to the economic and socio-political situation in the country.
The Oyo State CAN Chairman, Apostle Joshua Akinyemiju made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Ibadan.
Akinyemiju said the situation of things in the country and the world at large dictated that “the body of Christ should come together, be united, focused and non complacent”.
“We have to be proactive, be involved in political activities, not sitting on the fence and without any recourse to violence
“Those in position of authority should always remember to display justice and fairness in governance, they must rule or administer their constituencies with the fear of God.
“As we celebrate Easter 2022, the sacrificing of His only begotten son should not be wasted, almighty God will renew us spiritually, heal our land and remain gracious to us all.
“Easter is a time for Christians to remember the ultimate expression of love that happened some 2000 years ago,” he said.
According to him, this expression of love is Jesus Christ showing grace and compassion to those who brutally beat and tortured him.
“Easter, otherwise known as resurrection day is a time to celebrate and mark the anniversary of Jesus resurrection and ascension to Heaven.
“Without the resurrection, the Christian faith has no hope to rest upon, but since God raised Jesus from the dead, nothing else really matters and no one can successfully argue that Christianity isn’t true.
“We as Christians at Easter need to worship our eternally perfect God who separated Himself from every other deity by choosing to give up His own rights and life in order to restore and save the rights and lives of His creations.
“We must appreciate that gesture by ensuring that all those sins that we have confessed and repented from in the past 40 days remain renounced forever.
“We should owe no man anything but to love one another and continuing to ask God for peace in Oyo State and Nigeria at large,” he said.
Also, Rev. Samson Ajetomobi, the Oyo State Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), called on the government at all levels to be more focused, loyal and remain committed to the promises they made to the people.
Ajetomobi advised the government to always consider healthy politicking and make sacrifice to save the country, as Jesus did for mankind.
“Those who have political trust and ambition should follow the normal structure of being part of a party, contest for election and try not to milk the citizens.
“Let’s do Politics that is without violence, one that has ideology and discipline to better our nation,” he said.
The PFN chairman urged Nigerians, especially Christians to always emulate the sacrifice of Jesus for mankind and do the same for their neighbours.
“One of the best ways as Christians to mark this year’s Easter is to offer that love of Christ to others, in a way that they can feel the sacrifice.
“We should win souls to justify the meaning of Easter because Jesus died to win us, Easter defines the genuineness of our salvation as Jesus died to remit our sins.
“By Easter, all humans have privilege of having their sins forgiven and living in sin no more, it should be a time of sober reflection, that we should ask ourselves what we have done for Jesus.
“We should live like Jesus, beyond the fasting, celebration, we should be like Him to prove the benefit we derived from Easter,” he said.
