New year: Nysc DG greets Nigerians

I thank the Almighty God for bringing us to the Year 2022, a year which holds so much hope for us as a Scheme, and indeed our dear country, Nigeria.

The out gone year witnessed so many contributions by Corps Members in the areas of Education, Health, Infrastructure, Agriculture, National Assignments among others, though not without some existential challenges, especially the COVID-19 pandemic which was unexpected and had decimated millions of lives globally, with attendant social and economic dislocations, but conversely brought out the potentials in Corps Members which have been nationally acclaimed.

I am happy that a good number of Corps Members and NYSC Staff have been vaccinated against the dreaded virus so as to safeguard their lives which Management gives priority attention.

As we step on the threshold of the Year 2022, | pray that the year sees the renewal of our spirit of hard work, patriotism and commitment to national service, which are essentials for building a prosperous nation.

In Nigeria's demography today, youth remain a dominant factor, an indispensable and greatest part of the entire whole. It is upon your shoulders that the future of this country rests. Therefore, it behoves you to guard the entity, Nigeria jealously.

Let not any perceived drawback of the past year ever dim your resolve to pursue vigorously self development, and the ideals of nation building.

| charge you all to work conscientiously and harmoniously towards building a strong indivisible, hate-free and economically viable nation.

May God guide and protect you as you strive to achieve these noble ideals.

Remember to always take your security seriously. In this wise, stay safe and also adhere strictly to COVID-19 safety protocols. Never embark on night journeys, and do well to break any trip that will take you beyond 6pm. Before embarking on the journey, permission must be obtained using the official channels.

Together, we shall make Nigeria great among the comity of developed nations.

Happy New Year.
