A journey of a thousand miles they say starts with a step; this can be said of a man who can be described as the brain box behind the unparalleled success story of Ekiti state government under amiable Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
As of today this astute banker, quintessential lecturer and successful businessman turned politician decides to take the first step towards his next 192 days journey to June 18, 2022, when the gubernatorial elections will hold in Ekiti state.
This is no other person than Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO), the man that has been serving Ekiti people since his youthful age, serving as the secretary to the movement for the creation of Ekiti state 25 years ago.
Oyebanji came into the political limelight, first, as Special Assistant to the first executive governor of Ekiti state, Otunba Niyi Adebayo. He later ascended to be the Chief of Staff to Adebayo, owing to hard work, selflessness, absolute loyalty to his principal, and the political platform added to a clarion call to the majority of the Ekiti citizens.
Because of his brilliancy and zeal for service, he, BAO was appointed Director-General, Brainstorming, Strategy, and Delivery, before becoming a Commissioner for Budget and Economic planning in the first coming of Dr. John Kayode Fayemi where he showed prowess as one who understands what the economy of a state requires.
He proved his worth, he neither disappointed his principal, the party nor Ekiti citizens. Hence, a call for higher responsibility.
Therefore in the second coming of JKF, Oyebanji was appointed the Secretary to the State Government of Ekiti in 2018, before his resignation, where he began the 192 days journey as his reason for resigning.
Here he left no one in doubt that he was a round peg in a round hole was glamour and show of support for BAO today, Wednesday, 8th November 2021 while picking up the nomination form to contest the number one seat of Ekiti state government; in the entourage were the Speaker Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiye Afuye; Are Muyiwa Olumilua; Hon. Yemisi Ayokunle; Hon. Barr. Peter Owolabi (member representing Ekiti North Federal Constituency I Ikole/Oye) with other Ekiti APC National Assembly Caucus and APC stakeholders in the state
While addressing his teeming supporters and the Ekiti people, Oyebanji promised to emulate the excellence of the Fayemi administration and vowed to defeat the opposition hands down in 192 days from now when election will hold in our dear state.
BAO as fondly called, to the Ekiti elites is not just a politician by chance or luck, he had been a grassroots politician, that has proven his worth and worked his way to the top, to the other class of the citizens, Oyebanji is the bridge between them and the political class, while to the political class, BAO is the stabilizing factor for the government, he is an age long progressive.
He means different things to different people but with service to humanity as his hallmark and above all ekiti always on his mind
Biodun Oyebanji is a thorough bred Ekiti man, who had lived in Ekiti as a young man and has lived in Ekiti consistently in the last 20 years, Oyebanji has contributed to the economic development of Ekiti state prior is intention to run for governor, as a lecturer, entrepreneur and as a politician.
In the last Two (2) years, this man has been a household name among all classes of the citizenry, BAO is a brand that has won the hearts of various political groups in the state, most recent of this group is the ArkofBAO with coordinators in all the 16 local governments of Ekiti, ArkofBAOIkole would tomorrow Thursday 9th December, 2021 endorse the candidacy of Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for governor.
BAO is the new political philosophy in town and the Ekiti project.
