The Assistant Director/Head, Deployment and Relocation Branch of NYSC Ondo State, Mr. Babawale Owolabi has clarified that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) does not charge or attach any fee to relocation.
The Assistant Director who is the Head, Registration and Documentation at the on-going 2021 Batch 'C' (Stream II) orientation course made this clarification during the NYSC lecture to corps members deployed to Ondo State.
Mr. Owolabi asserted that relocation is a privilege conceded to corps members who wish to move to other states after the orientation course exercise.
"Gentlemen corps members, I wish to let you know that the process of relocation is transparent and devoid of any encumbrances. Every corps member has a right to apply for relocation and this would be considered on the strength of his/her application".
He disclosed that corps members are expected to pick the relocation form free of charge, complete same with an handwritten application as well as attach support document.
"Members of the service corps, NYSC grants relocation on three grounds namely marital, for female married corps members; health, for both males and females and insecurity which is limited to Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states because of the security challenges inherent in those states".
He continued, 'Ondo State is noted for her peaceful nature and very kind hospitality which has made several ex-corps members who served in the state to stay back to earn their livelihood".
"I am surprised that many of you despite the fact that Ondo will serve you as home away from home still obtain relocation form. God has a reason for bringing you to this Sunshine State, why can't you settle down here and serve the nation instead of desiring to leave" he queried.
Owolabi, in the course of the lecture explained that it is the responsibility of NYSC that has mobilised and deployed corps members to post them to where their services would be needed in line with the posting policy of the Federal Government.
"Gentlemen corps members, there is no need for you to be apprehensive about where you would be posted. Federal Government has directed the management of the Scheme to post corps members to four key areas namely agriculture, education, rural health care and infrastructure. This, we shall do justice to".
He allayed corps members' fear about posting to various places of primary assignment and said that corps employers know their responsibilities and they are eager to receive them at the end of the orientation course exercise.
The Head, Registration and Documentation advised the corps participants to go through and digest carefully the contents of the orientation service guide as this will help them to know more about the operations of the NYSC Scheme.
