DIRECTOR GENERAL FULFILS PROMISE TO WEDDED CORPS MEMBERS IN OYO


The Director-General Brig Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim has fulfilled his promise on inter tribal marriage between two corps members that served in Oyo state. 

Corps member Chukwu James Chekube (OY/20B/0504) from Enugu State got married to Abiona Oluwapelumi Tobiloba (OY/2B/0514) from Ogun State.

The duo met for the first time at Iseyin camp during the Orientation exercise and they were in the same platoon.

The relationship between them that birthed from the Camp eventually translated into marriage even though they were posted to different locations for their primary assignment. 

According to the couple, they did not allow distance to affect their friendship which has finally led to the exchange of marital vows.

In order to encourage inter tribal marriages among Corps members, the Director General, Brig. Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim has always promised to send a powerful delegation at such wedding ceremonies with a cash gift. 


Hitherto, the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand naira (#150,000.00) was forwarded by the Director - General for the Couple.

The State Coordinator, NYSC Oyo State, Mrs. Grace Ogbuogebe while presenting the Cash gift to the couple, lauded the NYSC Scheme for providing a platform for young graduates from different ethnic background to come together and find a common ground. 

She stated that the marriage which stands as a symbol of unity has fulfilled one of the main objectives of the National Youth Service Corps. 

She also encouraged the serving corps members not to allow ethnicity or tribalism to be a barrier in the choice of a life partner.



The wedding ceremony which was held in September 2021 at Ibadan was well attended by NYSC staff.The representative of the State Coordinator equally presented a gift on her behalf to the couple.
