The Convener of Ibi Giga Ambassadors, Chief Dr Alex Ajipe, has expressed his condolence to the people of Epinmi Akoko in Akoko South East local government of Ondo state over the death of their monarch, Gbiri Of Epinmi Akoko, Oba George Olusegun Oyekan
In a statement signed by his Media Aide, Solomon Adewoye, on Tuesday, Ajipe described Oba Oyekan as a royal father with dignity; saying he was a fearless defender of the interest of his subjects and the people in general.
Ajipe said the late Oba Oyekan’s contribution to the peace and development of Epinmi Akoko and the state could not be quantified.
“Kabiyesi supported government’s developmental efforts through useful advice on government programmes throughout his reign
“He was frank in his submissions at various fora and highly committed to the welfare of the people in his domain,”
“As a royal father, he was committed to the development of his people as he deployed his influence to foster peace and attract development to his community and by extension, Akoko land as a whole”. he said
Ajipe said the demise of the monarch has created a great vacuum in the state.
He prayed that Almighty God will grant him eternal rest and give his people the fortitude to bear the demise.
Oba Oyekan, A former Chairman of Akoko South East Local Government Traditional Council died at the age of 60 and reigned for 27 years.
