The Management of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has been informed of fake news in circulation about purported reinstatement of sacked Registrar, Mr Olatunbosun Odusanya and the sacked Bursar, Mrs Bolatito Akande.
In a statement signed on behalf of the Management by its Deputy Director Corporate Information Services, Mr. Adeyinka ADEMUYIWA and made available to Newsline NG noted that the fake news was published in two online versions; The Punch, Daily Post newspapers and also used by investigative journalists group based in Abuja.
The Statement partly reads "While The Punch captioned the story as, " My reinstatement confirms I was wrongly sacked - FUOYE Registrar, the Daily Post titled its version as "Senate reinstates sacked FUOYE Registrar, Olatunbosun Odusanya. Both are published today July 28, 2021.
"According to the fabricated Punch news, Mr Odusanya was at the Senate yesterday Tuesday July 27, 2021 and after his meeting with the Senate, the Upper Chamber looked at the petition and said all allegations against him were not enough to sack him.
According to him, the Senate then ordered the university to reinstate him and that he should report back at the Senate within 7days.
"Similarly, Daily Post reported that , " the Senate on Tuesday, that is yesterday, July 27,2021, reinstated Mr Olatunbosun Odusanya whose appointment as Registrar was terminated on April 25, 2021".
"Nothing is farther from truth. It is very unfortunate that journalists working with reputable media houses like The Punch and Daily Post can become tools in the hands of fake news carriers.
"No attempt was made to cross check from their Abuja colleagues at the National Assembly or anyone in the university hierarchy, yet they have contact details of nearly all management staff.
"The Management is shocked at these evil reports and wishes to inform the general public and people of goodwill including FUOYE stakeholders that nothing of such exist. It is a figment of imagination and a fabrication of the writers.
"To put the record straight, Management wishes to recall that only one Meeting involving the sacked staff, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Priviledges and Public Petitions, University Governing Council and University Management was held at Senate Committee Room on Monday June 7, 2021.
"At the end of the session, The Chairman of the Senate Committee said, "We had read all the Petitions prior to this sitting but there is nothing to justify the atrocities committed by these erstwhile staff".
He then pleaded for soft landing directing that the staff should immediately withdraw all other Petitions and court cases filed directly or through proxies.
"This position was reported in the media through the University Bulletin, FUOYENews of Monday June 21, 2021 and Vanguard newspaper of June 10, 2021.
"Since no other meeting has been held since the June 7, 2021 meeting, it is therefore very shocking to read these fabrications and unpatriotic reports.
"The meeting slated for Tuesday July 27,2021 could not hold because of the tight schedule of Governing Council Members. The Senate had been notified of this development.
"So as far as Management of this University is concerned, the decision of April 25, 2021 and the advise of Senator Akinyelure on June 7, 2021 remain standing and binding.
