No fewer than fifteen (15) undergraduate students of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) are undergoing the compulsory Industrial Training (IT) at the paramilitary agency.
This was disclosed by the Commandant of Corps, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Solomon S.T. Iyamu, while receiving the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) and his management team last week Thursday.
He noted that the corp existence is attributed is attributed to the existence of the universities and other institutions.
"We are here to protect public assets and we normally deploy personnel and resources to those places".
"We will be glad to partner with you on these things, adding that most of their officers go as far as Ilorin or Ibadan for part time studies",he disclosed.
"Civil Defense is an agency that loves challenges and has embraced part time studies years ago noting that the organisation has eighteen (18) professors in their midst who bagged the exalted position by embracing part time studies.
Speaking further, the State Commandant stressed that Civil Defense gives room for people to educate themselves. "We are willing to learn when we have the opportunity", he added.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina has disclosed that Fuoye is ready to partner in synergy with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,(NSCDC) Ekiti Commands.
"I am very happy to be here today. The reason we are here is to seek for your support and also partner with you in term of trainings, statistics and research",the Vice-Chancellor said.
"When I was Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, and Chairman Security Committee of the university, you supported us. Ever since, you had been working together with us as partners in progress", the appreciative Vice Chancellor said.
"We will continue to partner with you". "We are set to commence Transport Studies programme soon", he added .
He however thanked everyone for coming to his inauguration as Vice Chancellor of FUOYE in February.
On the entourage of the Vice Chancellor were, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, (Academic) Professor Olusola Johnson Ojo, the University Ag.Registrar, Mr.Mufutau Ibrahim, University Librarian, Dr.Isaac Busayo, Deputy Director, Corporate Information Services, Mr. Adeyinka Ademuyiwa and the Chief Security Officer, Mr Paul Ogidi.
